I'm extremely disappointed that my previous review was removed, but I want to share my experience at this salon again. I visited for a perm back in 2021, hoping for curly hair, and was very truthful about my hair's history, including having been dyed red my whole life, recently undergoing color removal, and receiving a balayage treatment at this salon to correct the color. My hair was brown on top and blonde at the tips, and I explicitly told them it had been bleached at their salon. Despite this, I was assured that the perm was possible and might result in slight damage, which could be fixed with products. Trusting their expertise, we proceeded with the perm. However, things quickly went wrong as the chemicals were applied, and my hair started falling out in clumps. It was severely damaged.

I requested a bob, but the technician insisted on a different haircut, which ended up being a bowl-shaped cut with uneven layers, resembling an Afro. While I appreciate the beauty of Afros, it wasn't suitable for me. The owner and technician debated charging me, considering my honesty about my hair's history, and eventually decided not to charge me. I had to shave my head to fix the damage, but even that didn't completely resolve the issue, as my shaved head still had disorganized waves from the perm.

I gave the salon a second chance recently, -this being my reason for coming and updating my review- bringing my children for haircuts as well as myslef. My daughter's trim was uneven, but her long hair made it less noticeable. My son wanted a specific "Justin Bieber-type haircut," but despite my clear instructions and photo reference, the technician cut his hair wildly wrong, with a strange "V" shape on the side of his temple, which I had specifically requested to avoid. It took a while for his hair to grow back. When I got my hair cut, I only wanted a trim and a few layers, as I was growing my hair back postpartum and experiencing shedding. However, the technician took too much hair, leaving me with raggedy, uneven layers that lacked thickness. It was a cute cut, but I wish I had been left with more of my hair.

I've since learned that, unlike other places in canada, BC doesn't require a license to cut hair, which concerns me. Hair is very important to people, and it shouldn't be left in the hands of untrained technicians. I'll be more cautious in the future and hope others learn from my experience.

I truly enjoyed my experience! A relaxed atmosphere & very reasonably priced. Tracey was wonderful; professional, helpful & accommodating! I absolutely recommend this locally owned & operated hair salon & barber shop!

There's a nail salon & an eyelash extension, two separately owned small businesses, that have space in the same location. Bonus!

I was not greeted upon entering the salon, I stood there for at least five minutes before even being acknowledged. Not even a smile or hello! Incredibly unwelcoming environment. I will not be returning to this Salon. It was overpriced for a haircut and not even a wash. I wish this business the best and only hope they strive to do better.

To be honest the way the customers are treated is so good, but she did a hair cut its really worst ever in my life I fell very shy to go out with out a hut, no words to explain.... We pay for it nothing os free but this is not the way suppose to serve your customers who trust you guys because its back side were people cant see u guys will wont do a good job... Really really not at all far...

Great place to get a haircut. Small sure but the atmosphere was awesome. If I’m back in Vanderhoof and need a hair cut I’m coming back here.
